A Coastal Experiment for GNSS-R Code-Level Altimetry Using BDS-3 New Civil Signals

چکیده

High temporal and spatial resolutions are the key advantages of global navigation satellites system-reflectometry (GNSS-R) technique, while low precision instabilities constrain its development. Compared with conventional Ku/C band nadir-looking radar altimetry, GNSS-R code-level altimetry is restricted by smaller bandwidth lower transmitted power signals. Fortunately, modernized GNSS broadcast new open-available ranging codes wider bandwidth. The Chinese BDS-3 system was built on 31 July 2020; inclined geostationary orbit medium circular provide B1C B2a public service signals in two frequency bands B1 B2. In order to investigate their performance a coastal experiment conducted 5 November 2020 at trestle Weihai Shandong province China. raw intermediate data 62 MHz sampling rate were collected post-processed solve sea surface height every second continuously for over eight hours. precisions evaluated using measurements from 26 GHz altimeter mounted same near our setup. results show that centimeter-level accuracy altimetry—based code after application moving average—can be achieved, code, about 10 20 cm.

1 2 N ov 2 00 3 PARFAIT : GNSS - R coastal altimetry

GNSS-R signals contain a coherent and an incoherent component. A new algorithm for coherent phase altimetry over rough ocean surfaces, called PARFAIT, has been developed and implemented in Starlab's STARLIGHT 1 GNSS-R software package. In this paper we report our extraction and analysis of the coherent component of L1 GPS-R signals collected during the ESTEC Bridge 2 experimental campaign using...

Sea state monitoring using coastal GNSS - R

We report on a coastal experiment to study GPS L1 reflections. The campaign was carried out at the Barcelona Port breaker and dedicated to the development of sea-state retrieval algorithms. An experimental system built for this purpose collected and processed GPS data to automatically generate a times series of the interferometric complex field (ICF). The ICF was analyzed off line and compared ...

GNSS-R Altimetry Performance Analysis for the GEROS Experiment on Board the International Space Station

The GEROS-ISS (GNSS rEflectometry, Radio Occultation and Scatterometry onboard International Space Station) is an innovative experiment for climate research, proposed in 2011 within a call of the European Space Agency (ESA). This proposal was the only one selected for further studies by ESA out of ~25 ones that were submitted. In this work, the instrument performance for the near-nadir altimetr...

The GNSS - R Eddy Experiment I : Altimetry from Low Altitude Air - craft

We report results from the Eddy Experiment, where a synchronous GPS receiver pair was flown on an aircraft to collect sampled L1 signals and their reflections from the sea surface to investigate the altimetric accuracy of GNSS-R. During the experiment, surface wind speed (U10) was of the order of 10 m/s, and significant wave heights of up to 2 m, as discussed further in a companion paper. After...

The Eddy Experiment : accurate GNSS - R ocean altimetry from low altitude aircraft

During the Eddy Experiment, two synchronous GPS receivers were flown at 1 km altitude to collect L1 signals and their reflections from the sea surface for assessment of altimetric precision and accuracy. Wind speed (U10) was around 10 m/s, and SWH up to 2 m. A geophysical para-metric waveform model was used for retracking and estimation of the lapse between the direct and reflected signals with...
